The creation of “Red Panda” began in Changsha, Hunan. During a lecture tour in 1981, Li Qun visited Changsha Zoo, where he sketched his beloved red panda. Inspired by a rare northern French plane tree he observed in the hotel courtyard, he captured its essence on canvas. Upon returning to Taiyuan, he transformed these sketches into the artwork “Red Panda” which was later showcased in the “Chinese Printmaking Exhibition” held in Denmark in 1983.
